ONE PLANET, ONE PEOPLE

DECLARE INTERDEPENDENCE!

NICARAGUA: THREAT OF AN ECO-REVOLUTION?

UK Speaking/Singing Tour

Oct 1 - 15 2018

Way back in the turbulent '60s, Bob Dylan’s 'Blowin’ in the Wind’ so inspired Paul,

a supposedly-silent hermit & Trappist monk, that he secretly made a guitar

from a retired toilet seat and a broken table, led a monastic revolution,

and, leaving the monastery practically in flames, took to the minstrel's road.

Nearly 50 years on, his music includes Scotland’s traditional ‘The Recruited Collier’

‘Woody Guthrie’s ‘Union Maid, Victor Jara’s ‘Prayer to the Laborer’; and even a little Gregorian Chant and Flamenco.   Some of his own 'greatest hits' are:

'Frrrappuccino, Crrrappuccino (Anyone for Starbux?)',

'That !#$%^&!! Cell Phone!', and, 'I Thought I Heard Sweet Victor, Singing ... '.

Now living in revolutionary Nicaragua with his ex-guerrillera wife, Fatima Hernandez Chavarria,

he founded and coordinates ECHOESof SILENCE,

working and singing with (extra)ordinary people fighting for their lives

throughout Europe and Americas.

On tour, he tells their stories in a passionate blend of

song, analysis, information and practical projects,

in English and/or fluent Spanish, and supports:-

  • Ponies and Small Persons (Nags 'n' Nippers) - rescued street children/ponies in mutual tenderness on educational eco-farm, Carazo, Nicaragua

  • Justice for Bertha and Víctor campaigns -

  • Demand Bertha Caceres's killer be brought to justice, and that the US accede to Chile's formal request that Víctor Jara's convicted murderer be extradited to Chile

  • Declare Global Inter-Dependence! One Planet, One People. Call for Global InterDependence Day; Fly One World flag; Re-invent the UN;  honor war dead: 2% all military money, material & person-power to bring fresh water to all

  • ALBA: The Revolution Roars Back - Latin America's New World Order: solidarity, ecology, racial/gender balance, cooperation. And it works!!

Presentations. Lectures, homilies, concerts, discussions: Media and Latin American study courses, unions, schools, faith communities, solidarity, environmental and other groups, conferences, lecture series = you name it, we do it!  Fees by negotiation..  Plus, a bit of floorspace to sleep, a drop of Chilean red to keep cheerful, and some assistance with travel to get back on the road. Thanks.
